  • If I have a small bell and a large bell, how will they sound different (two things!)?
The large one will be louder and deeper - bigger volume, lower pitch.
  • If I make my guitar string shorter, what happens to the note?
    It gets higher in pitch.
  • What units are used to measure volume?
    decibels
  • If I bang the table many times and measure the sound, will it be the same each time?
No, because it's impossible to hit it the same each time.
  • When vibrations are bigger, what happens to the sound?
The volume increases (it gets louder).
  • What causes sound?
    Vibrations
  • Is sound quicker or slower to travel through solids?
    Quicker!
  • When vibrations are faster, what happens?
The pitch (frequency) goes up - it gets higher.
  • What is sound like in space?
There is no sound because there is no air.
  • What does 'vibration' mean?
    shaking back and forth
  • How does sound travel to our ears?
A sound wave of vibrations passes through the particles.
