  • How many scores do you receive?
    FIVE : READING, USE, WRITING, LISTENING and SPEAKING.
  • How many days are required to sit for the exam?
    Two. One for the Reading & Use, Writing and Listening and another for the Speaking.
  • When will you sit for the exam?
    In December this year or in June next year.
  • Do you fail if you receive a score of 140-159?
    No. Your Certificate will show that you demonstrate ability at level B1.
  • How many papers are there in the FCE exam?
    FOUR: READING & USE, WRITING, LISTENING and SPEAKING.
  • Does it matter if you make spelling mistakes in the Listening Paper?
    No, minor mistakes are not penalised, but your intention must be clear.
  • Do you take the Speaking test alone?
    No, the Speaking test is in pairs or three candidates.
  • Are words like "doesn't" and "isn't" counted as one or two words?
    Two words.
  • How long is the FCE Certificate valid?
    For life.
  • Do you write all the papers in pencil?
    No, the Writing Paper must be written in pen.
  • What is the minimun score to pass the FCE exam ( B2 level)?
    A score of 160
  • What percentage out of 100% is the Listening Paper worth?
    20%
  • Do you lose marks for incorrect answers?
    No. If you give a wrong answer, it is the same as giving no answer.
  • Do you need to pass all the four Papers of the exam?
    No, it is possible to pass the exam if you do well in some papers but not in every paper.
  • How long is the Listening Paper?
    40 minutes and it is composed by 4 parts.
  • How many reading comprehension exercises are there in Paper 1 ?
    3
  • Mention the 5 writing task types that may appear in the Writing Paper. Which one is compulsory?
    essay, article, letter, report and review. The essay is compulsory.
  • Is American spelling allowed?
    Yes, if it is used consistently.
