There is a big countdown ten seconds before midnight. Everyone shouts ten... nine... eight...!

I love to open my presents and give presents to other people too.

We celebrate our new year with water pistols and wash our hands with scented water - like a big spring cleaning

My favourite activity is decorating the tree. I put tinsel and pretty balls on it. I put a star on the top too.

We make beautiful rangolis and light candles

We gather by the temple for an unusual tradition. We’ll throw coloured powder at each other!

We dress up in costumes and celebrate with music at the end of the winter. We eat a lot of doughnut!

I help Mum put candles on the floor with flowers. They look beautiful.

We throw tomatoes and have fun in a tomato fight in Spain

We make a big fire, burn the puppet of Guy Fawkes and eat toffee apples in the UK

We eat lots of nice food, like hairy crab and moon cakes. We have candles on the table and Grandad tells us a story. The __________Festival is great!

We watch dragon boat races. Where do you watch them? We usually go to the beach!

In this festival there are fireworks at night. You can see beautiful shapes and colours in the sky.

It’s a fun day. Families eat and play together. Children sing and dance in street parades.

I love to listen to music and dance with my friends in the street.

I love to watch the parade. People wear colourful and crazy fantastic costumes.

I like _________ Festival. We get lanterns! They’re very pretty. My sister and I like to go to the park. We sit on the grass and look at the moon. At home, we have a family dinner.

We have music and mariachi musicians on the streets, dancing, street food in Mexico

The parks have lots of fun activities. We can take part in races and play games. Children also get presents from their parents!

As the sun started to set, it was time for Iftar. We broke our fast with dates and water.
