The Battle of Khe Sanh
During this retreat, the Chinese forces surrounded by the KMT army were able to escape, but lost 80% of their soldiers. The leadership of Mao during this event lead to him becoming the leader of CCP forces.
The Long March
Although North Vietnamese technically failed all of their strategic objectives in this offensive, it changed the American public's opinion that the Vietnam War could be one. This lead to the process of "Vietnamization."
The Tet Offensive
This battle was fought in the North of Vietnam and saw the Viet Minh lead by general Võ Nguyên Giáp surround and defeat a large French force. This battle lead to the signing of the Geneva Accords and the French withdrawal from Vietnam
The Battle of Dien Bien Phu
This man was the Prime Minister of the democratic South of Vietnam, but was a ruthless dictator. His brutal policies and corruption lead to his assassination by the South Vietnamese army supported by the CIA
Ngo Dinh Diem
This war was almost won by communist forces lead by Kim Il Sung when they took the capital of Seoul. After UN forces led by the US pushed the communists out of the southern part of this country, China invaded and a truce was called.
The Korean War
This man initially started as a general in the Chinese Kuomintang who defeated the Chinese warlords. He then served as China's head of state until losing to communist forces fleeing to Taiwan to lead a government in exile.
Chiang Kai Shek
Although this man was Japan's Emperor and head of state during WWII, his actual impact on war time decision making is debatable. He remained in power after Japan's defeat and stayed in power till Japan became the world's 2nd biggest economy
Emperor Hirohito
This Japanese movement saw the overthrow of the Tokugawa Shogunate and the reinstatement of Prince Mutsuhito as emperor. This era saw the rapid industrialization of Japan and its emergence as a regional power.
The Meiji Restoration
This was the last Chinese Dynasty that lasted until 1916. However, from the 1800s onwards, this dynasty had little power as many Western Nations and Chinese warlords fought for control.
Qing Dynasty
