It is the cold, outer layer of the earth.
What is the mantle?
It is almost 2900km thick and consists of solid rock.
What is the core?
It is the deepest layer and the temperature reaches 6000°C.
What are the tectonic plates?
Different pieces of mass that fit together as a puzzle.
What happens when tectonic plates move?
Formation of mountains, volcanoes and sometimes earthquakes or tsunamis.
What is an earthquake?
The strong movement of the earth's surface.
What is the hypocenter?
The origin of the movements of the tectonic plates.
What is the epicenter?
The place where the tremor or earthquake is more intense.
What are tsunamis?
When the epicenter is located at the bottom of the ocean and the crust and water move.
What are volcanoes?
A volcano is the opening in the earth's surface where magma, ash, rocks and gases come out.
