CREAK
if something such as a door, wooden floor, old bed, or stair creaks, it makes a long high noise when someone opens it, walks on it, sits on it etc
HOWL
if a dog, wolf, or other animal howls, it makes a long loud sound
GROWL
if an animal growls, it makes a long deep angry sound
TOLL
if a large bell tolls, or if you toll it, it keeps ringing slowly, especially to show that someone has died
CAW
the loud sound made by some types of bird, especially crows
