What was the Buckets' life like in a small wooden house?
In the summertime, it wasn't too bad, but in the winter, freezing cold draughts blew across the floor all night long, it was awful.

The only meals they could afford were bread and margarine for breakfast, boiled potatoes and cabbage for lunch, and cabbage soup for supper.

There came a very hot day, the whole palace began to melt, it sank slowly to the ground.

Other chocolate makers began to grow jealous of WW's wonderful sweets. They started sending in spies to steal his secret ingredients.

He had to ask every single one of his workers to go home, never to come back.

They saw thin columns of white smoke coming out of the tops of the tall chimneys of the factory.
Did anyone know who was working in Willi Wonka's factory? What did they see?
No, they didn't. but they saw the shadows moving behind glass windows of the factory. Shadows of tiny people, no taller than a knee.
What new did Charlie's Dad bring home?
He brought home an evening newspaper. The huge headline said that the Wonka factory would be opened at last to lucky few.
