What is a force?
a push or a pull
What is an action-at-distance force?
a force that acts on an object without being in contact
What is an example of action-at-distance force?
eg gravity, magnetic, electrical
What is a contact force?
A force that exists between two objects in contact with each other
What is mass?
The amount of matter something contains
What is a normal force?
The force that the ground or any other suface pushes up against gravity
What is tension?
The state of a wire, cable, rope etc when it is being pulled tight
What is a balanced force?
A net resultant force that does not result in motion
What is an unbalanced force?
A net resultant force that causes motion
What is the net resultant force?
the total combined effect of all forces acating on an object
How do we measure the net resultant force?
With a force diagram
