What is a hypothesis?
An educated prediction about how the independent variable will affect the dependent variable. An IF...THEN statement.
What is a variable?
A factor in an experiment that changes or could be changed.
What is an independent variable?
The variable that is manipulated by the experimenter, also known as the manipulated variable.
What is a dependent variable?
The variable that responds to the independent variable, also known as the responding variable.
What is the control group in an experiment?
The standard for comparison in an experiment.
What is the constant in an experiment?
A factor in an experiment that is kept the same in all trials
What is an observation?
Using your senses (touch, smell, sight, etc.) to report something
How do you calculate average?
The sum of your numbers divided by the amount of numbers. (Example- 5+6+5+9+7=32 / 5 =6.4)
What is a qualitative observation?
Using words and descriptions to describe your data

What is data?
A collection of facts, such as numbers, words, measurements, observations or just descriptions of things. Data can be qualitative or quantitative.
